CAN YOUR LEG CRAMPS BE HORMONAL?

DO YOU WAKE AT NIGHT WITH THOSE PESKY LEG CRAMPS?

So the muscles that cause horrible cramping in the middle of the night are called GASTROCNEMIUS MUSCLES, SOLEUS MUSCLES AND THE ACHILLES TENDONS. So we know that while we are having the best sleep in the middle of the night (mostly between 9pm and 11pm) we will get woken with the legs pulling and cramping, making some of us jump out of bed to make it stop!!

But did you know that his could be a warning of your hormones not being in balance?

YUP! Hormones! How?

Well the Gastrocnemius Muscle is controlled and works with the TRIPLE WARMER MERIDIAN which links with the hormones and this muscle in particular works with the Adrenal glands.

The adrenal glands are part of the stress response of fight, flight or freeze.

So what does this muscle do: It flexes the foot and the lower part of the leg and stabilizes the foot.

If you have an imbalance in this muscle it may cause a forward lean of the body or the leg with the knee bent. Emotional strain and mild shock conditions after trauma may also affect this muscle.

Some things that help this muscle to improve is to test and see what is going on with your hormones (please book or enquire on 083 654 9943 or bookingsatessentialhealth@gmail.com), checking your vitamin C level and stop smoking.

So if you are struggling with these leg pains, weakness or cramping, or if you are getting Achilles tendon problems when exercising and you cannot get rid of it, contact us to do a full body check and find out the cause!
